Design and Simulation of Fractionally Spaced Cascaded Blind Equalizer with Momentum Term

To overcome the disadvantages of low convergence speed and high residual mean square error in the single baud-spaced equalizer, on the basis of advantages of fractionally space and momentum algorithm, fractionally spaced cascade blind equalizer with momentum term was designed. In this equalizer, T / 4 fractionally spaced blind equalizer is used as the first level and baud-spaced equalizer as the second level. The weight vectors of the two level equalizer are updated via momentum algorithm and CMA algorithm. This equalizer has ability to equalize channel twice and can overcome the defect of low convergence speed and high residual mean square error effectively in the single equalizer. Simulation results with underwater acoustic channels verifies the effectiveness of the proposed cascaded blind equalizer.
