Optimization of Lean New Product Development process using Advanced Dual Stage Performance Phase method

In every new product development phase it is essential to focus on structured and systematic approach to product design stages. The need for new product development & innovation is a must in this world for upgrading in every aspect. The success of new products depends mostly on the new product development process. This paper describes the application of advanced dual stage performance value stream mapping to optimize new product development process.

It was found that all factors were strongly correlated; suggesting success depends on good lean tools and stage performances. Finally, a general VSM-ADSP method for new product development process is proposed. The method uses modified process mapping to implement & improve process in an automotive industry. This paper makes two primary contributions: an application of value stream mapping in an actual setting and the use of simulation to answer questions that could not be addressed only using the static view provided by value steam mapping. This paper describes both the current state and the future state for the product line, as well as the analysis and results obtained from simulation. We conclude with a discussion of future research and applications in this area.
