Multiphase mixed-mode sinusoidal oscillator using second-generation multioutput current-controlled current conveyor

A mixed-mode (voltage-mode and current-mode) N number even/odd-order and 2N number even-order multiphase sinusoidal oscillator circuit is proposed. The starting circuit is a voltage-mode even/odd-order multiphase sinusoidal oscillator, which uses single output current-controlled current conveyors as active devices with grounded passive components. It provides N (N3) output voltages (N being even or odd), equal in magnitude and equally spaced in phase. Further, it is transformed into a mixed-mode even/odd-order multiphase sinusoidal oscillator by replacing the single output CCCIIs with multioutput current-controlled current conveyors (MOCCCIIs) and N additional grounded resistors. Now, the transformed oscillator circuit can generate N/2N voltage and current outputs. They have attractive features such as grounded passive components, almost equal magnitude and equally spaced voltage and current outputs, load insensitive current outputs, low sensitivity figures, low component count and is suitability for modern IC technologies. A three/six-phase and four/eight-phase oscillator circuits are designed and verified using SPICE simulation.
